Heartburn Medications And Treatments

Heartburn can be one of the most horrible conditions to ever suffer. Some have described their symptoms to be like having a heart attack. Personally speaking, I know that heartburn for me has been waking up in the early hours of the morning feeling terrible like I have just been sick.

One morning, the heartburn and reflux was so bad, that I felt like I was going to die. It was one of the quickest trips to the doctor I had ever made in my life. Lucky for me, the Janssen-Cilag drug representative had just been in to see my doctor recently and had left her many samples of the heartburn and reflux treatment know as Pariet.

While there are many ways available to treat heartburn you can be the judge if the heartburn medication and treatments that are out there is suitable for you. The best way is to first know the severity of your heartburn. You should talk to your doctor to see if these medications and treatments will be of help to you.

There are many types of prescription heartburn medications and treatments that you can get, as well as very effective natural remedies. A few of those medications and treatments however may have side effects like reducing the strength of the LES.

Before you begin a course of treatment with these medications and treatments, you should always consult your physician regarding their side effects.

These prescription medications and treatments include the anti-spasmotics like Levsin, Librax, and Bentyl. The calcium channel blockers Procardia, Cardizem, Calan, and Isoptin are a type of heartburn medication or treatment that can affect the LES muscle’s effectiveness. The other medications that produce side effects for the LES are the anti-depressants Elavil and Doxepia amongst others.

You have a choice of buying heartburn medication or treatment that can reduce and or totally eliminate the production of high levels of excess stomach acid. These medications and treatments are said to have the ability to increase the strength of the Lower Esophageal Sphincter. With the excess stomach acid production being stopped the chances of acid refluxing into the esophagus is less.

Unfortunately, these drugs are known to contain certain adverse side effects. These side effects can make your heartburn medication or treatment unhelpful. The heartburn medication or treatment Propulsid has been taken off the market because it is known to have cardiac side effects.

Another way of treating heartburn is via surgery. The objective of heartburn surgery is to strengthen the LES muscle. A successful surgery can greatly relieve and correct severe acid reflux and heartburn. This surgery is called the Laparoscopic Technique. In this technique the surgery is accomplished through tiny holes incised in the belly button and the upper abdomen. Recovery is quicker with this technique.

Then you get the newer nonsurgical endoscopic heartburn medication or treatment. These are the EndoCinch and the NDO Plicator method. The EndoCinch is also referred to as the endoscopic fundoplication or endoluminal gastroplication technique. This involves the use of a sewing device that is attached to the end of the video endoscope. This instrument lets the endoscopist carefully place stitches in the stomach below the LES. Then a row of stitches produces a pleat in the upper part of your stomach. This reduces the pressure against the LES and also the acid reflux. General anesthesia is not used, there are no surgical incisions made, and recovery for the patient is quicker.

In addition to the EndoCinch, The NDO Plicator is another suturing method. This method tightens the LES valve and reduces stomach acid reflux as well. Generally, these techniques are effective in reducing or eliminating heartburn treatment and in controlling heartburn symptoms. Check with your doctor to see if any of the mentioned heartburn medication or treatment methods will help you. Heartburn medications and treatments can greatly improve the quality of your life.

Personally speaking, if I had not been prescribed with Pariet, my quality of life would be simply terrible. Therefore, always ask your doctor if you can try a sample pack prior to purchasing a full course. This can save you lots money as well as shortlist suitable treatments that are just right for you at minimal expense.

Natural Acid Reflux Cure- Curing Heartburn and Preventing Cancer

You put your head down expecting a full night’s sleep. Midnight hits and you wake-up with chest and stomach pains. You immediately question the worst, A Heart Attack. But after a trip to the hospital you realize you don’t have a heart attack but heartburn (also known as acid reflux or GERD). That is the good news! However, the bad news is that heartburn can sometimes lead to cancer if left untreated.

Acid Reflux and Heartburn Treatment

Acid Reflux is the cause of a weak sphincter muscle in the esophagus which allows digestive juices to enter the throat and mouth. Doctors diagnose the condition as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The condition will cause the following: chest pains, stomach pains, nausea and sweating. Most people know acid reflux by the name of heartburn because of the burning sensation in their chest. And even more people know acid reflux from experience. It is reported that at least 1 in 5 Americans have experienced heartburn in the last week. Does this describe you?

But the bad news! Most of these acid reflux sufferers leave their heartburn symptoms untreated and do not seek treatment. And after years of neglect, acid reflux can become fatal if left untreated.

Heartburn Can Lead to Cancer

Dr. De Vito of the Digestive Disease Institute stated that years of acid reflux neglect can lead to esophageal erosion, ulcers and eventually cancer. And as our diets are becoming more of a catalyst to heartburn, esophageal cancer is one of the fastest-growing cancers in the United States. An estimated 15,560 cases will be reported this year alone and of those reported many will be in the late stages. And more unfortunately, the survival rate is low.

Research has now concluded that acid reflux and heartburn could now be a fatal disease. Are you treating your acid reflux?

What You Know Can Cure You!

If you or a loved one sufferers from regular heartburns bouts, you should know that you can naturally cure yourself. If you seek medical help you will pay for it with your pocketbook and your health. Prescription drugs will be effective for 4-8 weeks but taking the medications for extended periods of time can cause extra gastrin in your body. Gastrin is a hormone that will speed up production of toxins which will eventually lead to cancer as well. If you do take medication, notice the 4-8 week warning on the bottle.

This leaves you with 2 options.

Option 1: Take acid reflux medication and risk the chance of getting cancer.

Option 2: Ignore your acid reflux and risk the chance of getting cancer.

Or

Option 3: Make some simple lifestyle changes with an effective natural acid reflux cure.

Acid Reflux is a symptom of a greater problem! Your body is simply telling you that you need to make some changes so your body can work more efficiently. Five Ways to Treat Constant Heartburn Symptoms

Constant heartburn attacks affect your lifestyle. Just imagine what it would be like to stop in the middle of a task because a burning sensation suddenly creeps up to your chestbone, to your esophagus, to your throat, and sometimes even to your mouth. The pain can strike anytime! Even while you sleep. So what can be done to avoid your heartburn symptoms taking over your entire life?

There are many cures to constant heartburn, varying from surgical procedures to medicines. Here are some of the treatment options to consider.

1. Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication is a common type of heartburn surgery which involves tightening the walls of the esophagus and adding pressure to the lower esophagus muscle in order to prevent stomach contents from reaching the throat. Another method focuses on tightening the esophagus valve to keep acids from burning the esophageal lining.

2. Intraluminal endoscopic surgery is about using an optical, tubular instrument which is inserted inside the part of the patient’s body to let the doctor get a better view of it. This procedure is much faster and has a shorter recovery rate, which is why many patients want this kind of surgery.

3. Antiacids are taken to neutralize the acids and promote the body’s defenses by helping increase the production of micous and bicarbonate. These medicines are aimed to relieve mild symptoms of heartburn, and are bought without the doctor’s prescription.

4. Histamine blockers are made to block the actions of histamine, a chemical which helps promote the production of stomach acids. They are for the relief of frequent cases of heartburn, but you have to wait for thirty to ninety minutes before these drugs could take effect. Then, the effect will only last for six to twenty-four hours. For patients with more serious cases of heartburn, they have to take two dosages a day.

5. Proton pump inhibitors reduce the acids in the stomach by reacting with cells responsible for producing stomach acids. You should note, though, that they are found to cause side effects like diarrhea, headache, itching, and nausea.

Persistent Heartburn ? Effective Treatment That Is Safe And Drug Free

Almost everyone suffers from the occasional bout of heartburn, usually because we have overindulged at that restaurant or party. Mother Nature is simply teaching us a lesson. However, millions of people suffer from persistent heartburn and this is of concern, because if you do not take some form of remedy, then it could develop into a serious, possibly life threatening condition.

Don’t panic, however, as long as you do not ignore the problem then there are numerous ways in which you can control it.

If you only suffer from infrequent attacks then you probably take some form of antacid which usually brings quick relief from the problem. Those who suffer from persistent heartburn normally take medication such as H2 Blockers or Proton Pump Inhibitors, which although they take longer to become effective, give much longer lasting relief.

So, is that it – problem solved? Well not quite.

While the above mentioned drug-based conventional remedies are effective in bringing much needed relief, they do have some potentially serious drawbacks.

•    they only treat the symptoms of the problem and not the causes
•    relief is only temporary
•    long term usage of drug based medicines can cause additional problems
•    they are known to create adverse sometimes harmful side effects.

People are becoming increasingly aware of the problems that drug based medication create as they are widely reported by the media. Consequently, more and more people are turning to natural remedies and treatments to solve their health problems and this is certainly so for heartburn.

Fortunately there is a great deal you can do to combat persistent heartburn and get relief from the pain and distress that it causes.

Isn’t it strange that heartburn sufferers immediately turn to medication when most of the causes are directly related to lifestyle and diet? Surely if you (a) identify which foods/drinks trigger your heartburn and avoid them or (b) make specific changes to your lifestyle to prevent heartburn attacks, then this will give an effective means of controlling your problem? Yes it does.

It may not cure the problem but it will certainly reduce the regularity of the attacks. Then when you do need to take some form of medication there is a wide range of totally natural medication, readily available, that is equally as effective as conventional medication but, very importantly, does not create those adverse side effects that people are concerned about.

So there you have it, effective and completely natural treatment for persistent heartburn that is safe and drug free.

One final thought. By identifying the causes of your heartburn and treating each and every one of them, (which is the fundamental premise of those who practice natural medicine), in addition to effectively controlling it, wouldn’t this provide the foundation for a permanent cure for persistent heartburn?

Most conventional treatments for heartburn are temporary because they treat the symptoms and not the root cause of the problem. If you want to successfully and permanently rid yourself of the problem then you must address all the factors that contribute to the problem and treat the problem holistically.

.

A revolutionary new program does exactly that and in 5 unique steps shows you how to permanently cure your heartburn and acid reflux.

Making a Heartburn Food Plan

Making a Heartburn Food Plan

If you have heartburn you know there are certain foods that make your condition worse. That is why it is recommended that you have a heartburn food plan which outlines the food you can safely eat and avoid.

Heartburn happens when there is a reflux of liquid containing pepsin, to the esophagus and to the throat. The liquid that comes from the stomach is acidic, burning the lining of your esophagus. It this happens frequently, a visit to the doctor is recommended to help you cure this condition.

One of the things that are advised for you to do is, as mentioned, having a heartburn food plan. The ones you should avoid generally are those that are hard to be digested, since they put too much pressure on the stomach and the lower esophagus muscle, and those that can make the LES relax.

So what are the foods that cause heartburn? Take note of the following:

- Fatty food (cream, dairy products, mayo, butter and oil – in short, anything that is high in fat)
- Chocolate
- Coffee
- Spearmint and peppermint
- Alcoholic drinks
- Fruit juices like orange juice, lemon, lemonade, grapefruit juice, cranberry juice
- Caffeine
- Spices like onions and chili, as well as spicy food
- Citrus fruits
- Products which are tomato-based
- Baked food and desserts high in fat
- Junk foods

If there are foods to avoid, there are those that you can eat. These include:

- Food rich in complex carbohydrates
- Apples and bananas
- Steamed vegetables
- Baked potato
- Green leafy vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, carrots
- Legumes and lentils
- Low fat food (that can be something like skinless chicken breast, or low fat fish, dressings, cream and dairy products – food that are low in fat are fine)

As you can see, spices, fatty foods, citrus, greasy foods, tomato-based foods and caffeine should be excluded from a heartburn diet. What you should eat, therefore, are those low in fat or baked.

An advisable way of keeping track of the safe food for you is by having a heartburn food record. This records all the food and drinks you ate and drank for the day, as well as the symptoms you felt, if any. When keeping a food journal, you should specify  the type of food you are and how it was cooked.

Also, it is wise to keep a list of food and drinks that are safe and to be avoided and have it posted on your ref, for easier references.

When eating out, avoid those trigger food at all cost. It could be hard because there are many ingredients involved but you should ask for something baked or grilled instead of fatty or fried ones, for example.

Following a heartburn food plan is a must for every heartburn sufferer. While this means avoiding some of your favorites, I advise you to just replace them with something healthier that will not cause you any harm.

And for a natural treatment for acid reflux, I suggest you visit my review on a book that had helped thousands of other acid reflux sufferers cure their condition naturally.

Heartburn Chest Pain- Reasons You Should Take It Seriously!

Usually, the early symptom of a heart attack is very similar to heartburn and can be mistaken as acid reflux heartburn. And this kind of mistake can be very dangerous as any delay of medical attention to a heart attack can cause serious consequences. Hence it is very important to understand whether it is heartburn acid reflux symptoms or a heart condition that is causing the chest pain. Let us find out the difference here.

The more likely signs that is associated to acid reflux are that the discomfort can continue for hours, or retrosternal soreness without lateral radiation. Also, pain that interrupts sleep, or that happened after meals, may be related to heartburn from acid reflux. Heartburn ache is also quickly relieved with antacid agents, unlike center disease or heart conditions.

Sometimes, one can have both acid reflux heartburn and heart disease issues both at the same time. Some people with coronary artery disease may develop chest pain from their acid reflux, which is believed that the acid in the esophagus may provoke nerves that temporarily impair blood flow to the heart, hence causing chest pain. This however, is probably not a heart attack. That is why it is important, especially for people with heart problems, to have their chest pain checked immediately by a doctor to determine the cause of the pain.

So what signs and symptoms are immediate signs of danger? You should contact the doctor or call 911 immediately if you never had heartburn or acid reflux prior to, and that you simply are experiencing chest agony, pressure of chest and heart, and difficulty in breathing. This is confirmed sign of a center attack! Also, if you take antacids but it doesn’t relieve the chest discomfort within 10 to 15 minutes, call the doctor promptly.

In addition, if you’re experiencing shortness of breath, profuse sweating, nausea, dizziness, fainting, weakness, and pain from your chest, back, jaw, arms, these are all indicators that you are having a center attack. So seek medical attention quickly whenever you experienced these symptoms.

Over the years of research, I have found one “effective” product that can help you Eliminate Heartburn Pains and Acid Reflux by teaching you how to cure it using this proven method without side effects to your health.

What Can I Take for Heartburn Relief – 10 Tips to Relieve the Pain

If you are a sufferer of heartburn and are looking for heartburn relief that really works instead of having to depend on medicated treatments prescribed by the doctor, there are ten tips that you can utilise in your lifestyle to make the world of difference.

1. Reducing the amount of acidic foods and drinks can play a massive part in heartburn relief. These include certain fruits such as grapefruit, apples and oranges and the fruits that can come from them.

2. Greasy foods such as hamburgers, fast food and other fatty meats can actually trigger heartburn so try to avoid these as best that you can.

3. Fizzy drinks, coffee and tea and other caffeinated products can trigger heartburn so by reducing the amount of these that you drink or eliminating them completely from your diet. This can be one of the most helpful all of the heartburn relief suggestions, especially the fizzy drinks.

4. Eating too quickly can be one of the fastest things to bring about heartburn and to relieve this, try to eat much slower. Take your time and where possible, eat at the table without the television on as this has been proven to enable better digestion.

5. If you are needing to use medication for heartburn relief every day then you could have something more serious than a little bit of heartburn, you could have GERD.

6. Tight clothes are something that can trigger heartburn and not very many people realise this. Anything tight fitting clothing that sits on the stomach area of the body can actually start the symptoms of heartburn.

7. Pregnancy is one of the most common times for a female to get heartburn and the heartburn relief that you can take during this time will be different to that at any other time.

8. If you enjoy exercising, make sure that you wait at least a couple of hours after eating before attempting any form of physical exercise. Even though exercising is actually a great way to help with heartburn relief, doing it so close to eating is actually a trigger of heartburn.

9. Smoking can help to relax the LES valve between the oesophagus and the stomach which lets food in but stops the acid getting out. By quitting smoking, the muscles within this valve are stronger and can therefore prevent this acid reflux from occurring.

10. Chewing gum at night is another form of heartburn relief which can actually make the mouth produce more saliva and increase the food moving through the digestive system, therefore reducing heartburn or acid reflux.
